As a positive sign in these tough economic times, Jackson County’s Community Health Center Inc. and La Clinica Del Carino are two of 25 nonprofit community clinics in Oregon that will share $5.9 million to offer health care to Community populations with limited access to health care, including low-income and uninsured residents and those with limited English proficiency.
The grants will assist the community health centers build services so that those who have been impacted by the economic downturn can acquire the health care they need.
Grants were awarded based on applications put forward earlier this month that outlined how the money would aid health centers extend services. Potential strategies included adding staff, stretching hours of operations or buidling on programs.
