BRAZORIA, Texas — Officials have canceled an Amber Alert for a mother and daughter who had been reported to have been abducted by the child's father in Southeast Texas.
Brazoria police say 18-year-old Anna Karen Vera of Missouri City and seven-month-old Alexis Zaraboza were found safe Friday. That's after 23-year-old Daniel Zaragoza allegedly took them against their will from a Brazoria baseball field Thursday evening.
Police also have taken the father into custody for questioning. Investigators haven't revealed any details on where mother and child were found nor the father's arrest.
Police spokeswoman Linsy Longbotham said the father was recently arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon. That's after restaurant employees called police and said he had a gun in his waistband. He was released from jail March 31.
