Cancer center bomb threat cleared

The UC Davis Cancer Center got a bomb threat Monday morning and the building was immediately evacuated. After a police search, the building was classified as safe.

UC Davis police and Sacramento Sheriff’s Department bomb-sniffing dogs completed a search at the Cancer Center’s Sacramento Campus and the Bulkey Building on Alhambra Building. They found no evidence of a bomb, and people were allowed back into the building.

An unidentified man called the cancer center at 8:45 a.m., saying there was a bomb at the building and demanded $10,000 ransom. UC Davis police evacuated 150 people were evacuated. About 20 were patients and family members; the balance were UC Davis faculty and staff.

Patients with appointments Monday were rescheduled.
