JACKSONVILLE, FL -- More than 2,000 volunteers went door to door on Saturday, handing out information to help prepare people for disasters.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worked with the American Red Cross to hand out the information.
They dropped off bags full of literature about how to prepare for different disasters, including fires, floods and hurricanes.
"Outreach, face to face is the best way to get information out," said Jack Morgan, CEO of the Northeast Chapter of the American Red Cross.
He said the informational tour was important because most people don't know what to do in the event of a brush fire, tornado, flood or hurricane.
The volunteers were spread throughout Alachua, Clay, Duval, Levy, Marion, Putnam and St. Johns Counties.
They went to 40,000 households.
They hope the information people received today will help residents if any disasters occur in the future.
